CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Ed Taggart called the March 18, 2008 Huff Run Watershed Restoration Partnership meeting to order at 5:32 p.m. 

ATTENDANCE: Bo Hysong, John Slack, Belle Everett, Maureen Wise, Ed Taggart, Amber Leasure-Earnhardt, Marissa Geib, Amanda Hook, Mike Farber, Eric Earnhardt, Gary Alkire, Jeremy Broadwater

MINUTES: Wise presented minutes from February 2008 HRWRP meeting. MOTION by Everett to approve the minutes of HRWRP meeting, Seconded by Slack, motion passed with a vote: all yes.

OLD BUSINESS

CLEAN SWEEP: Leasure-Earnhardt and Wise presented updates to the Sandy Township Clean Sweep project.  The Clean Sweep is scheduled for April 26, 2008.  Members will meet at the HRWRP office at 9:00 to collect litter around the Huff Run area.  Environmental Explorers will also join the group with a short lesson from 9:00 to 10:00. All members are encouraged to attend. 
ST. RT. 800 CLEAN UP: Wise discussed scheduling a date for cleaning the section of State Route 800 adopted by HRWRP.  Saturday, June 14 was decided.
SEPTIC WORKSHOP Wise discussed the Septic Workshop for households located in and around Huff Run and its tributaries.  The Septic Workshop is scheduled for May 8, 2008.  Wise reported the Health Department and funders from the EPA are helping to conduct the event.
5K: Wise reported on the 5K run scheduled for the “Party in the Park” event on August 17.  The 5K committee met for the first time on March 12 . Wise told members of the inclusion of Huff Run 5K into the “Tusky Valley Challenge” 2008 listing.  Wise discussed changing the pricing for this year’s 5k to include an early registration incentive; also, she will try to find more sponsors for the event to with goals of making $1000 total and 75 participating runners.  Members also discussed changing the name of the one mile walk/run to a “fun mile.”  Amanda Hook expressed a willingness to advertise the 5k at Sandy Valley High School.  Marissa Gieb talked about the Kent State Tuscarawas new running team having an interest in participating. 

NEW BUSINESS
PROJECT UPDATE: Wise provided the following project updates:
BELDEN: Scheduled to start construction soon. Tucson of New Philadelphia was awarded the lowest bid. All “bat trees” have been cut down.
HR 22:  ODNR working near HR22, work likely to affect the site.  The project has a $413,000 budget and is scheduled for August completion.
MINERAL ZOAR: To bid soon.
FERN HILL: To bid soon.
AWARENESS DAY: Leasure-Earnhardt discussed the 2008 Awareness Day planning.  The following dates are scheduled: May 9, May 16, and May 30.  Mineral City Methodist Church is willing to assist with lunch.  About 600 children with probably be participating with three traditional schools and five home school groups. A sign up sheet will be passed around at the next meeting.
RURAL ACTION ADVENTURE AUCTION: Wise announced the Rural Action Adventure Auction is scheduled for April 19.  Travel packages, concert tickets, and other items are available through the auction.  Wise distributed Adventure Auction fliers to HRWRP members.  Participants are to coordinate carpooling.
CORRESPONDENCE: Taggart read aloud the following correspondence:  A letter from the office of Congressman Zack Space; discussed the Southeast Ohio watershed meeting; and River Rally in May.
ADJOURNMENT: MOTION: Broadwater made motion to adjourn, Second by Hysong; vote: all yea. 
Taggart adjourned the March 18 meeting at 6:34 p.m.
